Supporting / Upgrading your Cordless System DCT1800


1/December/ 2013: Your DCT1800 radio exchange cordless system branded Ericsson, Nira or Ascom DECT cordless system was originally designed and developed by Ericsson and can be depicted as follows:

The typical cordless system is branded Ericsson/Nira/Ascom:

The handsets can be Ericsson, Nira or Ascom. As can the base stations, the cabinet/DCT1800 radio exchange (DCT1800) and cards in the radio exchange. Ericsson of course designed all protocols and standards in the system, and provided all handsets and parts for the system originally, some being co-developed or co-branded or rebranded by others. In the diagram above the PABX telephone system is your existing phone system and can be any brand phone system of course.

Support Options and upgrade options:

Supporting the DCT1800 cordless system without changing it!
Ericsson Cordless Solutions offers full support, cards, parts maintenance on your existing systems anywhere in Australia (and we do the same in some locations internationally). We will support your DCT1800 radio exchange system for at least another 3 years with parts, handsets, cards, power supplies, base stations, on-site and remote support, field service and maintenance plans if those are needed.

Note some customers have been approached to move to an IP-DECT Migration, because of a stated DCT1800 Radio Exchange Phase-out. But here at ECS we prefer to assist customers with options to remain with their existing DC T1800 radio exchange systems maintained and supported and with lower cost upgrade options when the options is timely for the customer!

Supporting the DCT1800 cordless system and adding some new handsets
Ericsson Cordless Solutions can provide new handsets to mix and match into your existing bunch of handsets or to change out all the handsets if desired -- it’s entirely your choice. We will support your DCT1800 radio exchange DECT system with parts, handsets, cards, power supplies, base stations, on-site and remote support, field service and maintenance plans if those are needed.

Cordless system DCT1800 options if IP or SIP connectivity is desired:
We can also advise you on options to upgrade parts of the system at lowest cost to you the owner. You can upgrade different parts separately without having to invest much financially.... For instance:
*** Upgrade to some Newer model cordless handsets alone (but keep the same investment in base stations and main box DCT1800.)
*** Upgrade to a Newer model Main Box DCT1800 (but keep the same base stations and cordless Ericsson /Ascom handsets without financial investment)

Cordless system upgrade using IP-DECT Migration equipment:
Here we show one path to upgrade the system to start to use SIP connectivity. (and assumes that your phone system does not have a SIP trunk interface.) You can fully retain your existing investment and just SIP connect it.
Here we can either just add a SIP gateway to the existing DCT 1800 system and keep your DCT1800 in place, or alternatively we can replace the cordless system DCT1800 by adding the SIP/IP gateway we can provide.

Cordless system upgrade using IP-DECT migration and IP connection to PABX or IP-PBX:
Here we show another path to upgrade the system assuming that your phone system does have a SIP trunk interface or you plan one that does.
